COLUMBIA - CIU commenced its participation in the NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at their home venue for the third consecutive year. Here's how the CIU women performed on their first day of the meet:

In the Women's Discus Throw, Lillian Grumbles placed 9th with a distance of 36.57m, Acoya Hunt finished 14th with 33.33m, and Coral Curry came in 15th with 31.73m.

On the track, Morgan Johnson took 1st place in the Women's 100m prelims with a time of 12.29Q and 2nd place in the Women's 200m prelims (25.18Q).

The Women's 4 x 800m relay team, consisting of Elizabeth Gustafson, Morgan Hartman, Jada Figgins, and Mercy Berkemeyer, finished with a time of 10:21.29, setting the school record in the event.

The Rams will wrap up competition at the national meet on Friday.
