ATLANTA, Ga. - CIU women's track and field competed against schools across all levels of NCAA and NAIA at the Emory Spring Break Classic, hosted by Emory University. The Rams delivered strong performances in multiple events with 13 AAC qualifiers.
Morgan Johnson led the sprints, clocking 12.52 (AAC) in the 100m and 26.43 (AAC) in the 200m while also placing 12th in the 100m hurdles with a 16.05. Elizabeth Gustafson finished the 400m in 1:01.68 (PR, AAC), and Mercy Berkemeyer ran a solid 2:30.10 (AAC) in the 800m. Morgan Hartman completed the 1500m in 5:47.01.
In the relays, the 4x400m team of Johnson, Berkemeyer, Hartman, and Gustafson posted a 4:16.47 to tie their season-best, while the 4x800m squad of Gustafson, Hartman, Jada Figgins, and Berkemeyer recorded 11:04.20.
In the field events, Kloey Pickens shined with a third-place shot put throw of 12.61m (AAC), while Coral Curry (11.52m, AAC) and Acoya Hunt (11.23m, AAC) also competed. Lillian Grumbles led CIU in the discus with a 34.75m (AAC) mark, followed by Hunt (33.72m, AAC), Curry (32.70m, AAC), and Janasia Day (24.10m). Curry also excelled in the hammer throw, finishing seventh with 41.87m (AAC), while Pickens (41.70m, AAC), Grumbles (35.64m, AAC), and Hannah Grace Koverman (34.29m) contributed marks. Bethany Rymer (22.79m), represented CIU well in the javelin.
