Three top-15 finishers punctuate impressive outing for Women's Cross Country

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - CIU's women's cross country took part in the Queen City Invitational, hosted by the Queens University of Charlotte (N.C.) Friday afternoon. The Rams competed against a host of schools in the NAIA and the NCAA ranks. CIU competed well, earning a 6th-place team finish in their second meet of the 2022 season. 

The Rams finished with three runners in the top 15. Junior Rosemary Reed, who finished 12th, led the way for CIU ending with a personal best 20:23 finishing time. 

A place (13th) behind was sophomore Lydia Willhite, who finished four seconds behind Reed with a 20:27 final time. Rounding out the top 15 was Senior Dzana Cisic, coming in at 20:43 at the meet. Willhite and Cisic each set personal records with their performances as well. 

Shoshannah Crompton also competed for the Rams, ending with a 26:15 final time. Morgan Johnson and Jayla Hunter rounded out the Ram's unit with a 30:28 finish and a 32:20 finish, respectively. 

What Coach Michael Knight is saying: 
"Our ladies had another phenomenal showing against D1, D2, and NAIA schools. We again had 3 in the top 15 in the race. The girls ran with great purpose and intensity this afternoon."

The Rams have two weeks of preparation before competing next at the Koala Classic hosted by Columbia College (S.C.) on Saturday, Oct. 8.
