After having off for the weekend due to fall break the Columbia International University women's soccer team wasted no time getting back into the swing of things as they faced off against Columbia College. The Koalas would score four goals with three coming in the second half to beat the Rams. The Rams fall to 5-6-2 on the season.
Columbia College controlled much of the possession throughout the game, even the Rams had the first offensive chance as a rocket off the foot of Abby Martin hit off the post. The Koalas were able to strike in the first half and they would hold on to that lead as the teams went into the break.
The Rams came out of the half looking to find the equalizer. The Koalas were able to get some pressure on the back line of the Rams, but each time the defense was able to rise to the occasion. The Rams were able to get the ball deep into the Koalas zone as Taylor Endicott crossed to ball into Sotiria Tsilionis who was able to one touch the ball to the feet of Alanna Battermann who beat the goalkeeper and help the Rams tie the game at one. However, the Koalas would take back the momentum of the game as they would go on to score three goals very quickly. The teams would continue to battle, but the Koalas would go on to win 4-1.
The Rams will have some time off before they return home to play Chowan University on October 29 at 7 pm. That game will also be senior day as we will honor five women's soccer players.
