GREENVILLE, S.C. — After a historic season on the pitch, CIU women's soccer team earned a program-record haul of postseason honors from the National Christian College Athletic Association, highlighted by regional and national recognition.
Lohrane Boaventura was named the NCCAA South Region Player of the Year and earned NCCAA Second Team All-America honors after a record-setting campaign. Boaventura set a CIU single-season record with 11 goals while adding seven assists, helping power the Rams to a 13-6-1 overall record and a 9-3-1 mark in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.
Boaventura was joined on the NCCAA All-South Region team by Marisa Dill, Lily Jackson, Mazzie Leos, and goalkeeper Hailey Resetar as CIU placed five players on the regional squad.
Head coach Kara Lail was named NCCAA South Region Coach of the Year for the second time in her tenure at CIU after guiding the Rams to their best conference finish and one of the top overall records in the region.
