CENTRAL, S.C. - The CIU women's track and field team had an impressive showing at the Susan Rouse Invitational, hosted by Southern Wesleyan University, with several athletes earning top placements in their events. Morgan Johnson led the way, claiming victories in both the 400-meter hurdles and 200 meters. Johnson posted a winning time of 1:02.02 in the 400-meter hurdles and finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.62 seconds. She also took second place in the 200 meters, clocking in at 26.53 seconds.
Caroline Rimmer also had a strong performance, placing second in the women's pole vault with a clearance of 2.77 meters. She added a 14th-place finish in the women's javelin, throwing 15.25 meters, and an 18th-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 32.48 seconds. Lillian Grumbles had a standout performance in the field events, taking fifth place in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 36.91 meters and third place in the discus with a throw of 32.74 meters. Acoya Hunt joined Grumbles in the hammer throw, finishing ninth at 34.43 meters and placing seventh in the discus with a throw of 31.73 meters.
The women's shot put also saw strong results for CIU, with Hunt finishing seventh with a throw of 10.12 meters. In the 800 meters, Elizabeth Gustafson placed seventh, posting a time of 2:37.15. Janasia Day rounded out the field performances for the team, finishing 12th in the hammer throw with a mark of 30.48 meters and securing a ninth-place finish in the discus.
Overall, the CIU women's track and field team displayed a strong mix of talent across various disciplines, with standout performances from Johnson, Grumbles, Hunt, and Rimmer.
Notably, Kloey Pickens also competed for CIU this weekend taking part in the NAIA Indoor Championships in Gainsville, Fla. Pickens placed 19th overall in the women's weight throw (15.21m),
