ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. — CIU men's golf sits tied for first place after the opening round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Fall Showcase at Barnsley Garden & Resort, carding a team score of +16 to match No. 2-ranked Reinhardt University atop the leaderboard.
Leading the way for the Rams was
Luke Hammond, the reigning AAC Player of the Week, who continued his impressive form by firing a 1-under-par 71 to take the individual lead through round one.
Behind Hammond,
Andrew Haarlow turned in a 74 (+2), while
Nate Caughman followed with a 77 (+5).
Braydon Hileman rounded out CIU's team scoring with an 82 (+10).
Competing as individuals,
Micah Smith recorded an 89 (+17), and
Santos Espinosa carded a 94 (+22).
The Rams will look to build on their strong start as play concludes Tuesday in Adairsville.
