LEXINGTON, VA. - The CIU women's track and field teams continued their strong showing on day two of the VMI Invitational, hosted by Virginia Military Institute. Once again, the Rams faced a competitive field featuring athletes from all collegiate divisions.
In the women's one-mile event, Jada Figgins and Morgan Hartman ran neck-and-neck, finishing with 6:20.53 and 6:20.85, respectively. In the 800m, Mercy Berkemeyer clocked an impressive time of 2:31.47 (PR), closely followed by teammate Elizabeth Gustafson, who finished in 2:33.48 (PR). Both were in the top 21 out of 49 competitors. To conclude the Rams' track events, Morgan Johnson sprinted to a time of 26.97 in the 200m.
In the shot put, Kloey Pickens recorded a distance of 12.87m to secure sixth place. Coral Curry and Acoya Hunt also contributed solid throws of 10.67m and 10.55m, respectively, rounding out the Rams' competition.
Up Next: The Rams head back to Virginia to compete in the Bast-Gregger Multi Invitational on January 31st and February 1st.
