All-American honors abound for Women's Track & Field as 4x100 relay team collects podium finish

May 24, 2024

MARION, Ind. - All-American honors in four different events and a podium finish highlighted the final day of the 2024 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships for CIU's women's track & field team on Friday.

The Rams podium finish came by way of CIU's 4x100 relay team of Emma Johnson, Trinyty Gregory, Charlette Johnson, and Morgan Johnson, who finished third in the event finals with a school record time of 45.36. The feat is the first time in school history that the CIU women have collected a top-three mark in an event at the NAIA Outdoor Championships.

Emma Johnson capped a remarkable season as the graduate student received All-American status four times over with a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (13.90) and a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter finals with a time of 11.63. Johnson also competed in the 200-meter finals with an eight-place finish at 24.04.

Coach John Sparks spoke on his women's team, saying, "Our women's team finished 15th out of 68 as a team, which is our highest finish in program history for the NAIA Outdoor Championships. Four All-Americans in four different events is quite an accomplishment for our ladies. I'm proud of their efforts this week and want to express my thanks to Assistant Coach Anteca Hill for all her hard work with our sprinters."
