March 02, 2024

BROOKINGS, S.D. - CIU track & field closed out their indoor season on day three of the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday. The Rams had three athletes from the men's teams competing with the hopes of a podium finish and receiving All-American status.

Dario Laing placed third and claimed the aforementioned coveted All-American status in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.95 (PR, School Record). Laing was the youngest competitor in the event.

Cameron Montgomery hit a PR in the men's shot put with a distance of 15.59m. Deandre Leith competed alongside him, reaching a distance of 15.49m. Both athletes secured a top-20 finish.

What Coach Tim Thompson is saying, "Day two was historic! God showed us the power of putting your faith in him. Last year, Dario Laing didn't make the finals. This year, he is an All-American with a lifetime best performance and a new school record! Only GOD can write a story as amazing as this. Don't close the book! This was just chapter two; chapter three  is Titled Outdoor Season!"

Up Next: The men's and women's teams will kick off their outdoor season March 8-9 at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Classic.
