COLUMBIA, S.C. - With the release of weekly awards Monday, the CIU men's and women's track and field teams have now nabbed Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) athletes of the week honors for the fourth consecutive week. 

After performing in the Liberty Open, Deandre Leith was named the AAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week. He reached a distance of 16.82m in the shot put to place second and hit the NAIA 'A' standard. For this event, Leith is ranked 3rd in the NAIA.

Emma Johnson was named the AAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week. In the Liberty Open on Saturday, Feb. 3, Johnson hit the NAIA 'B' standard in the 60m with a time of 7.68 to place third. She also holds the 10th-fastest time in the NAIA for this event.
