MARION, Ind. - CIU men's track & field make the trek across to the Hoosier State on Wednesday as the Rams are prepping for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. In head coach Tim Thompson's first year at the helm, the Rams will take three qualifiers to the meet, which is taking place at host school Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday, May 24, through Friday, May 26.
Junior Deandre Leith headlines the Rams trio heading to the national championship as the 2022 NAIA All-American looks to bring home a podium finish in the shot put. Leith currently has the sixth farthest throw in the shot put in the NAIA with a distance of 16.73m. Leith will also compete in the discus, where he currently holds a mark of 49.22m. Leith will be joined in the discus by teammate Dizayuh Hinton who has a career-best distance of 48.02m in the event.
Dario Laing will represent the Rams on the track in the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles. Laing holds an "A" standard in the 110m hurdles with a CIU school record time of 14.50. Laing also holds the school record in the 400m hurdles with an "A" standard and CIU best time of 53.47.
