Box Score The Columbia International University women's basketball was looking to carry the momentum from their victory on Tuesday into today, but they ran into a very strong Voorhees College team and fell 68-47. With the loss the Rams fall to 5-15 on the year.
The Rams started the game a little slow as the Tigers scored the first six points of the game, but after that the Rams were able to go on a 7-2 run to cut the Tigers lead to one. However, the Tigers would go on a 7-3 run to take a 17-10 lead after the first quarter.
The Tigers would continue to pad their lead at the start of the second quarter as they used an 11-0 run to take a 28-10 lead. A free throw by Aaliyah Knox stop the run, but the Tigers would continue to score as the Rams struggled. The Rams would go into the half down 35-16.
Coming out of the break the Rams were able to trim into the Tigers lead and cut it to twelve after a layup from Ciara Boggs. The two teams would continue to battle as the Rams were able to trim the deficit to single digits after two made free throws from Moriah Siemens, but the Tigers would use a small run to take a 14 point lead into the fourth.
The Tigers would jump out in front of the Rams early taking another twenty point lead with just under seven minutes remaining. The Rams would try to battle back, but the Tigers would continue to convert on their opportunities and go on to win 68-47.
Columbia International shot 31 percent (18-of-58) for the game, while Voorhees shot 40 percent (28-of-70)...The Rams were able to force the Tigers into 18 turnovers and they pulled down 37 rebounds with 16 of those being on the offensive end...Ciara Boggs led the Rams with 17 points and chipped in with four rebounds...Raven Fleming finished the game with a double-double as she had 10 points and 11 rebounds...Liz Jenkins had nine points and three assists and Moriah Siemens had five points and four rebounds...Brionna Missouri led the Tigers with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Columbia International will be back in action next Saturday as we honor the seven seniors before the tip-off against Morris College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
