COLUMBIA, S.C. — CIU women's basketball closed its season Saturday afternoon with a 78–53 loss to Milligan in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Senior Day at the Moore Fitness Center.
The Rams opened strong in their final game of the year, building a 17–13 lead after the first quarter behind efficient shooting and balanced scoring. Katie Johnson capped the period with a three-pointer at the buzzer to give CIU early momentum.
Milligan responded decisively in the second quarter, outscoring CIU 30–13 while shooting 11-of-16 from the field and 6-of-8 from three-point range to take control with a 43–30 halftime advantage.
The visitors extended the margin in the third quarter with a 25–12 frame, pushing the lead past 20 points and maintaining control the rest of the way. Milligan led by as many as 28 in the fourth quarter before closing out the win.
Johnson led CIU with 16 points and four steals, while Jerchel Geathers-Washington added 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting with six rebounds. Selah George grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and scored eight points as the Rams finished with 25 boards and 10 steals.
CIU concludes the season at 6-20 overall and 4-16 in AAC play, while Milligan improved to 19-7 and 18-1 in conference action.
