Box Score After falling to rival Bob Jones University on Friday the Columbia International University men's basketball team was back in action on Tuesday as they traveled to Warren Wilson College. The Rams were looking for a little revenge the second time around as the Owls beat the Rams on their home court earlier in the year. The Rams were able to battle the Owls and beat them on their home court, 89-83. With the win the Rams move to 7-13 on the season.
The two teams went back and forth throughout the first half as neither team was able to put together a run to pull away. The Rams forced the Owls out of their offensive groove and disrupted what they wanted to do. The Rams would be strong on the glass as well and limited the Owls on their second chance points. The Rams would take a 39-36 lead into the half.
The teams would find a little more offense in the second half, but the Rams would continue to play strong defense to keep their lead. The second half was a special one for the Rams as Ryan Gibson became the first player in Columbia International history to score 1,000 points. "Ryan has been an integal part of this team and being the first to score 1,000 points in program history is a special honor. I'm proud of him and for all the hard work he has put in to reach this milestone." said head coach Marshall Tague. The Rams would pick up a key road victory and leave Asheville with an 89-83 victory.
"Warren Wilson is a tough place to play and our guys stuck together and competed hard for 40 minutes," said Tague. "This is a huge win for our team on the road. I'm really proud of the guys with how they stuck together and pulled out the win. We were able to get to the free throw line and convert. Our defensive focus and details were better tonight so those were key in propelling us to the win."
