Box Score The Columbia International University women's basketball team won its second straight game tonight as the Rams fought off Truett-McConnell, 61-57. The Rams move to 3-10 on the season, while the Bears fall to 12-10.
Columbia International started slow as the Bears jumped out to an early four point lead, but the Rams would pick up their pace a little and tie the game on two occasions with the second time being 8-8. The Rams would grab their first lead of the game at the 5:43 mark after a three from Liz Jenkins. The Rams would push their lead to five with under two minutes to play in the first quarter, but the Bears would claw back and tie the game at 16 going into the second quarter.
The Rams would start the second on four point run thanks to Abigail Siemens and Raven Fleming. The Rams would take a six point lead twice during the quarter, but they played their best during the last three minutes of the quarter as they would hold the Bears scoreless and take a 30-20 lead into the half.
The two teams would start the third quarter by exchanging baskets which saw the Bears cut the Rams lead to three points with 4:26 left in the third. The Rams would pick it up throughout the rest of the quarter and take a nine point lead into the fourth quarter. The Rams started the fourth quarter off on the right foot as they would regain their double digit lead after a jumper from Fleming. Just forty seconds later after two free throws from Fleming the Rams would take their biggest lead of the game. The Bears still had some fight in them though as they cut the lead to four with just under four minutes to go. The teams would continue to battle, but the Rams would always hang onto their lead and pick up their third win of the season.
The Rams shot 38.8 percent (19-49) from floor for the game, while the Bears shot 38.5 percent (20-52)...The Rams held the advantage in rebounds pulling down 41 compared to the Bears 26...Abigail Siemens led the Rams with 17 points and had five rebounds...Aaliyah Knox had 15 points and 8 rebounds...Raven Fleming was the last Ram in double figures with 13...Janae' Simpson led the Bears with 13 points.
The Rams will be back in action on Wednesday as they face off against Hiwassee College. Game will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
