Rams Race Past Screaming Eagles

The Columbia International women's basketball team was back on the court tonight as they traveled to Toccoa Falls College. The Rams led all throughout the game as the offense found their groove and kept their foot on the gas all night to win 80-26. With the win the Rams pick up their second victory of the season.

The Rams and Eagles would start the game a little slow, but the Rams would get on the board first as Victoria Dickerson would get them rolling to open the game on an 8-0 run. The Screaming Eagles would get their first two and only two points of the quarter at the 5:13 mark, but the Rams would go on another scoring run. The Rams would carry their run over into the second quarter as they opened up a 23 point lead just twenty seconds into the second quarter.

The Rams offense would continue to fire on all cylinders in the second quarter and keep their lead above 20 points for all the second quarter and take a 38-13 lead into the break.

The offense didn't cool off at all at half and would continue to dominate throughout the third quarter. The Rams would limit the Screaming Eagles to just six points in the third quarter. At the 2:25 mark the Rams would push their lead to 40 points after a layup from Abigail Siemens, but by the end of the quarter the Rams had a 47 point lead.

The fourth quarter was much of the same for the Rams offense as they would continue to score and push their lead into the 50's. As the horn sounded the Rams walked off the court with an 80-26 victory.

The Rams shot 50.7 percent (38-75) for the game, while the Screaming Eagles shot 16.4 percent (9-55)...The Rams defense was just as impressing as their offense as they forced the Screaming Eagles into 25 turnovers...The 26 points that the Rams allowed tonight are a program record beating the previous record of 27 points allowed...Raven Fleming led the Rams with 20 points and chipped in eight rebounds...Abigail Siemens had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds...Makeda DeSouza also had 12 points for the Rams...Aaliyah Knox tied her own program record of eight assists...Paige Towne led the Screaming Eagles with six points.

The Rams will have almost a week off before they host Truett-McConnell University on Monday, January 23. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
