Box Score The Columbia International women's basketball team was riding high after beating Hiwassee on Monday to claim their first victory. The Rams were looking to take a two game winning streak into the new year, but the Bears of Truett-McConnell had other plans. The Bears would beat the Rams 59-36.
The Rams would start the game off hot and on a 6-1 on run that saw Liz Jenkins, Abigail Siemens, and Raven Fleming each score for the Rams. The Bears would tie the game at six, but the Rams would once again go on a little run to take a 12-6 lead after a jumper from Makeda DeSouza. The Bears however, would take a 13-12 lead into the second quarter.
The Bears would hold onto their lead in the second, but the Rams were able to trim the lead to one after with 7:05 left in the second quarter after a three from Shanquilla Nicholson. The Bears would push their lead and take a 27-17 lead into the half.
The Rams were not able to counter attack the Bears attack throughout the third quarter as the Bears would run their lead as high as 22 with 2:06 remaining in the third. The Bears would take a 45-24 lead after three quarters. The fourth quarter was much of the same as the Rams shots just were not falling like the Bears were. The Rams would cut the lead to until 20 on a couple occasions, but just couldn't match the Bears. The Bears would be victorious and win 59-36.
The Rams were strong on the glass tonight as they were able to pull down 45 rebounds with 22 of those being on the offensive end...The Rams were also able to force the Bears into 19 turnovers...Raven Fleming posted a double-double for the Rams as she had 11 points and 10 rebounds...Anna Murr led the Bears with 15 points.
The Rams will be back in action on January 11 when they host Johnson & Wales University at 5:30 p.m.
