Owls Soar Past Rams

After dropping a weird game last Friday the Rams were looking to get back in the win column before the Thanksgiving break. The Rams welcomed the Owls of Warren Wilson College. The game was a close contest, but the Owls would beat the Rams 104-93. With the loss the Rams fall to 2-5 on the season, while the Owls move to 4-4.

The Rams were able to grab the first lead in the game as Damian Hurta hit a three, but the Owls would battle back and the teams would tie at five. The Owls would grab a lead at the 15:45 mark and hold onto throughout the half. The Rams would continue to battle throughout the half, but the Owls would take leads of up to 10 at points. The Rams would go into the half down by three as JC Cavin was able to hit a runner right before the buzzer.

The Owls would continue to lead throughout the second half, but the Rams would stick right there with them as the Owls were never able to push their lead to more than six through the first four minutes. The Rams Jordan Dillingham and Blake Ellison would hit a couple key shots to keep the Rams within striking distance. The Owls would go on a run and take a lead as high as 20 points with 4:09 remaining in the game. The Rams would start to chip away at the Owls lead and get it down to nine after a three from Hurta, but the Owls would go on to win 104-93.

The Rams shot an outstanding 49% for the whole game...The Rams would hit 11 threes throughout the game...Five Rams scored in double digits...Dillingham had 17, Cavin and Nayquan Wilson each had 15, while Hurta and Ryan Gibson had 14 and 12 a piece...Hurta also led the Rams with 7 rebounds...The Rams dished out 18 assists...Michael Pomeroy led the Owls with 19 points.

"Their extra possessions hurt us tonight. The turnovers that we committed and the offensive rebounds that they were able to score second chance points off of gave them the edge tonight. I'm proud of the guys for sticking together until the end. Going into break will be a chance for the guys to come back with a new energy and continue to get better," said head coach Marshall Tague.

The Rams will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Powell, TN to take on Crown College at 6 p.m.
