Box Score After dropping a heartbreaker to rival Bob Jones University on Saturday the Rams hit the road again to take on the Wolves of Newberry College. The Rams challenged the Wolves, but ultimately dropped the match by a final score of 3-1. The Rams move to 5-11 on the season, while the Wolves move to 5-9-2.
The Rams were the first team to muster up any offensive attack as they were awarded an early corner kick, but just couldn't convert it to grab an early lead. After the corner the Wolves started to gain their footing and attack the defense of the Rams. The Wolves were able to get on the board first scoring in the 26th minute. The teams would continue to battle, but the Rams would go into the break down by one.
The Wolves once again were the first to strike in a half as they were able to break past the defense and get a through ball in for another goal to give them a two goal lead. But less than a minute later the Rams would put one up on the board as Maksym Yakovenko was able to take the Wolves turnover and find the back of the net to cut the deficit to one. However, that is all the closer the Rams would get as the Wolves would score their third and final goal in the 90th minute to win by the final of 3-1.
The Rams had eight shots, with four of them being on goal...Yakovenko had the lone goal for the Rams...Luke Brooks had five saves for the Rams, with a couple of them being key saves to keep the Rams in the game...Six different Rams had at least one shot.
The Rams will be back in action on Saturday as they honor the seniors before their 4 p.m. game against Chowan. Come on out and support your Rams!
