KISSIMMEE, Fla. — CIU men's soccer wrapped up pool play at the 2025 NCCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship on Tuesday with a 1–0 win over No. 4 overall seed Nelson University, keeping the Rams in contention for a spot in Friday's national semifinal.
The Rams broke through in the 38th minute when Ive Celic finished a chance in the box to give CIU the lead. The forward provided both of CIU's shots on target, and the Rams produced seven total attempts in a match that required efficiency against a high-volume Nelson attack.
Nelson pressed aggressively in the second half, firing 13 shots after halftime and finishing with 17 overall. Goalkeeper Vasilios Diakomihalis anchored CIU's defensive effort, recording four saves to secure the shutout.
CIU (7-8-2, 1-0-1 pool play) will await the results of Wednesday's pool play action to determine whether it advances to Friday's semifinal round.
