Local standout Zach Hellman recently signed a letter of commitment to join the Columbia International University Rams soccer team next year.  Hellman is the team captain as a central defender for Lugoff-Elgin High School, where he was named All-Region and Impact Player of the Year as a junior.  He also plays club soccer for South Carolina United.

Hellman plans to study middle-eastern studies while at CIU.  Coach Whitaker commented on Zach's signing:  "Zach is a terrific player and an outstanding young man.  We're really excited to add him to our team for next year.  He is a hard-working and intelligent player, and he will have the opportunity to make an impact right away for our team this coming fall."
