GREENVILLE, S.C. — CIU women's cross country opened its 2026 season Friday evening at the Bruins Night Classic, hosted by Bob Jones University, with a pair of performances that landed among the fastest 4K times in program history.

Freshman Savannah Costner made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut, leading the Rams with a time of 17:02.80. Costner's mark is the third-fastest 4K time in CIU program history.

Elizabeth Gustafson also turned in a strong season-opening performance, recording a personal-best time of 17:12.50. Her mark ranks as the fifth-fastest 4K time in program history.

Morgan Hartman battled for the Rams as well, crossing the finish line in 19:42.30.

CIU returns to action Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Queen City Invite in Charlotte, N.C.
