Dallas Turner competes at the east coast relays for CIU track

Turner, Shuler, and Curry compete against Division I field at East Coast Relays

May 02, 2026

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A select group of CIU track & field student-athletes competed this weekend at the East Coast Relays hosted by the University of North Florida at Hodges Stadium, using the meet as a final tune-up before next week's national championship competition.

Competing against a field loaded with NCAA Division I talent, the Rams turned in several standout performances.

Dallas Turner posted a high jump mark of 1.93 meters, finishing ahead of multiple NCAA Division I competitors in the event.

Dante Shuler delivered one of the top performances of the weekend for CIU, placing third in the hammer throw with a mark of 52.84 meters. Shuler bested competitors from South Carolina State University, Bethune-Cookman University, and Coastal Carolina University, with the only collegiate athlete finishing ahead of him representing the University of Florida.

On the women's side, Coral Curry recorded a throw of 48.61 meters in the hammer throw, finishing 10th in a field comprised almost entirely of NCAA Division I competition.

The meet served as a final pre-national championship opportunity for the Rams add qualifying marks ahead of the upcoming national meet.

CIU will next compete at the NCCAA Outdoor National Championships next week at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky.
