TIFTON, Ga. - CIU had a quick turnaround to finish the season-opening series against (RV) Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on Saturday afternoon. The Rams struggled to move runners around the bases, ultimately falling 9-1 in game three to start the season 0-3.
Game Three: ABAC 9 CIU 1: The Stallions jumped out to a 3–0 advantage through the first two innings. CIU looked to respond in the top of the third as Aiden Pomnitz created a scoring opportunity with two stolen bases, but a fly out ended the threat. ABAC added runs in each of the next three innings to extend its lead to 9–0 after five. CIU held the Stallions scoreless for the remainder of the contest and Hunter Cheslak delivered a single in the ninth to bring a run home, but a double play brought the rally to a close.
Pomnitz and Eli Musgraves each recorded a hit, while Cheslak and Gavin Creede added hits in pinch-hitting moments. On the mound, Grayden Ross, Campbell Denton, and Collin Otte combined to allow no runs over the final three innings of the contest.
