BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — CIU stormed past Bluefield University 6-0 Saturday afternoon at the East River Complex, extending its unbeaten streak in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play.
The Rams (6-1-1, 4-0-1 AAC) dominated from the opening whistle, scoring five times in the first half.
Charlotte Craver sparked the offense with two goals, including the opener in the ninth minute and another in the 20th off an assist from
Lily Jackson.
Jackson added a highlight-reel goal of her own in the 26th minute when her corner kick bent straight into the far-post netting.
Gabriella Hlaca also struck before halftime, finishing a setup from
Nicole Matijow to give CIU a 5-0 advantage at the break.
The Rams capped the scoring in the 78th minute when
Callie Rowe converted a cross from Joanna Croxton.
Goalkeepers
Hailey Resetar and
Taylor Bullock split time in the net to combine for the shutout, though neither was forced to make a save thanks to the Rams' stifling defense.
The Rams will be back in action Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Reinhardt University.
