WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Columbia International women's soccer earned its second victory of the 2025 season Tuesday night, defeating Carolina University 2-1 on the road behind a brace from senior forward Lohrane Boaventura.
The Rams (2-1) struck early as Boaventura opened the scoring in the 16th minute, finishing a chance off a pass from Charlotte Craver to give CIU a 1-0 halftime lead. After Carolina equalized midway through the second half, the Rams responded immediately. Boaventura netted her second of the night just 22 seconds later, slotting home the game-winner off an assist Callie Rowe.
CIU controlled much of the play offensively, outshooting the Bruins 9-8 and putting five shots on frame. Mazzie Leos created chances from the midfield with two shots on goal, while Lauren Jackson added two shots of her own.
Defensively, the Rams were organized, conceding just one shot on target across 90 minutes. Goalkeeper Hailey Resetar went untested outside of Carolina's lone goal.
With the win, CIU builds momentum ahead of Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. The Rams will return home to Sessions Field on Saturday, Sept. 6, for their league opener against Brenau University at 7 p.m.
