COLUMBIA, S.C. — CIU women's soccer continued its hot start to the 2025 campaign with a 2-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) victory over Montreat on Wednesday at Sessions Field, as senior forward
Lohrane Boaventura scored twice to tie the program's single-season record for goals.
Boaventura struck first in the 50th minute to give the Rams the lead, then doubled the advantage in the 77th with her eighth goal of the year, assisted by
Mazzie Leos. The two-goal performance pulled her even with the CIU single-season scoring mark just six matches into the schedule.
Montreat pulled one back less than two minutes later, but the Rams' back line and goalkeeper tandem of
Hailey Resetar and
Taylor Bullock held firm to preserve the win. Resetar and Bullock combined for three saves in the match.
CIU (5-1-1, 3-0-1 AAC) outshot Montreat 13-7 and controlled much of the second half, with Boaventura leading the way with six shots, three on frame.
Aubrey Taylor and
Charlotte Craver also generated quality chances as the Rams continued their strong early-season form.
With the victory, CIU is off to one of its best starts in program history and remains unbeaten in conference play.
The Rams return to action on Saturday as they travel to face Bluefield University at 1 p.m. ET.
