SPARTANBURG, S.C. — CIU women's soccer battled for a stalemate Wednesday afternoon at Nash Soccer Field, finishing with a 0-0 draw against Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) foe Spartanburg Methodist.
CIU dominated possession and offensive opportunities throughout the match, testing the Spartans' goalkeeper with 14 total shots—six on target—while generating sustained pressure in both halves. CIU recorded five shots in the first half, including quality chances from Callie Rowe and Lohrane Boaventura. In the second half, the offensive pressure only increased—nine attempts in all, featuring several close calls by Boaventura, Nicole Matijow, and Lily Jackson that were either saved or narrowly missed.
On CIU's half, goalkeeper Hailey Resetar recorded a clean sheet with three saves.
The Pioneers' persistence kept them on the front foot: a corner kick and multiple dangerous entries into the final third kept the home side defensively busy. However, CIU defense only allowed five shots on goal.
CIU will host Union Commonwealth (Ky.) at 5:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 13.
