Softball falls in extra innings to (RV) Reinhardt

COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU softball (10-10, 4-2 AAC) welcomed (RV) Reinhardt University  (9-7, 6-4 AAC) to Soda City for a Thursday afternoon conference matchup. Despite outhitting the Eagles in both contests, the Rams came up short to drop their first Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) series of the season.

Game One: Eagles 4 Rams 1: The Eagles took the lead in the first inning after a two-run homer and added another in the third to lead 3-0. Dallas Mayers singled in the third and moved into scoring position on a sac bunt from Carmella Korte, but a ground out ended the scoring threat. Alexus Barnes singled in the fourth, but the Rams' offense could not produce any runs. Reinhardt loaded the bases in the sixth, but CIU's defense got out of the jam with just one run allowed. The Rams recorded three hits in the bottom of the seventh, including an RBI single from Mackenzie Brown, but came up short and fell 4-1.
