MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. - On day two of their long weekend, CIU softball hit the field to take on Ave Maria University for a Friday afternoon doubleheader. The Rams struggled to get going offensively and dropped both games. However, CIU is still .500 on the season (6-6).
Game One: AM 9 CIU 1: Both teams went down quietly in the first frame, but CIU got on the double with an RBI double from Dallas Mayers. However, the Gyrenes responded with three runs to take the lead in the bottom of the second (3-1). They added three more in the third and one in the fourth to lead 7-1. The Rams got runners on in every inning but struggled to move them around. Ave Maria added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to secure the run-rule win.

Game Two: AM 8 CIU 1: Ave Maria quickly took an 8-0 lead after scoring two in the first and six in the second inning. Isabella Davis held the Gyrenes to just two hits in the final four frames to prevent them from adding more runs. The Rams scored one in the fourth after a Mayers single up the middle, but they struggled to move runners into scoring position to fall 8-1.
