KISSIMMEE, Fla. — CIU men's soccer opened the 2025 NCCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship with a 1–1 draw against No. 3 seed Judson on Monday at the Austin-Tindall Sports Complex.
After a scoreless first half, Judson converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute to take a 1–0 lead. The Rams stayed organized defensively and grew into the match, finding the equalizer in the 80th minute when Jonathan Scarpeta capitalized in the box to pull CIU level. The goal punctuated a strong second half in which the Rams out-shot Judson 5–4.
Goalkeeper Vasilios Diakomihalis kept CIU within striking distance throughout the night, making three saves. The Rams finished with seven shots overall and four on goal.
CIU (6-8-2) continues pool play on Tuesday, Dec. 2, against No. 7 seed Nelson University (Texas) at 7:30 p.m. ET.
