WALESKA, Ga.. — CIU women's volleyball added another milestone chapter to its dominant run in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) on Wednesday, collecting a sweeping list of honors following a 21–6 regular season and an AAC-best 17–2 conference record.
Eevy Bellar was named AAC Freshman of the Year, First Team All-AAC, and to the AAC All-Freshman Team after an outstanding season. She recorded 178 kills, hit .389, and tallied 82 total blocks while averaging 0.93 blocks per set.
Zcearia James earned First Team All-AAC recognition after finishing with 240 kills (2.58 per set), 127 digs, and 60 total blocks.
Lydia Gustafson continued her decorated career by being named AAC Defender of the Year and First Team All-AAC. CIU's all-time leader in blocks, she recorded 137 total blocks while averaging 1.47 blocks per set and added 161 kills on a .302 hitting percentage.
Kelcey Mangum was named First Team All-AAC after leading CIU defensively with 469 digs and averaging 5.04 digs per set, along with 25 service aces. Mangum, CIU's all-time digs leader, has won the AAC Regular Season championship each year she and Gustafson have played for the Rams.
Mary Norwood earned Second Team All-AAC honors after totaling 228 kills, 58 digs, and 33 total blocks while hitting .209 across 27 matches.
Head Coach Katie Weiss was named AAC Coach of the Year after guiding CIU to a 21–6 overall record and a 17–2 conference mark. She is 88–13 overall in three seasons at CIU.
The Rams now turn their attention to postseason play as they begin their pursuit of another AAC Tournament title. CIU will enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed and play the winner of Spartanburg Methodist and Blufield in a quarterfinal match on Friday.
