COLUMBIA, S.C. — CIU women's volleyball extended its winning streak to five matches on Saturday morning, sweeping Union Commonwealth (25-18, 25-23, 25-10) in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action inside the Moore Fitness Center.
The Rams (10-5, 6-1 AAC) controlled the match with a .223 hitting percentage and a dominant performance at the net, out-blocking UCU 10-7 in total team blocks.
Senior middle blocker Lydia Gustafson led the defensive effort with five block assists to go with seven kills on a .400 attack percentage. Katelynn Mundy paced the offense with eight kills and a .278 hitting mark, while Eevy Bellar added six kills on 10 swings (.500) and contributed two block assists.
Setter Skylar Dewhirst dished out 16 assists, and libero Kelcey Mangum anchored the back row with 20 digs. CIU limited UCU to a -.041 hitting percentage and held the visitors to just three kills in the final set.
CIU will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 7, when the Rams travel to face Montreat College at 6:30 p.m. ET.
