GAINESVILLE, Ga. — CIU women's volleyball continued its strong form on Friday night, sweeping Brenau University (25-11, 25-17, 25-9) in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play inside the Schrader Athletic Center. The victory moves CIU to 16-0 all-time against the Golden Tigers.
The Rams (19-6, 15-2 AAC) were in complete control offensively, hitting .474 as a team with 49 kills and just three attack errors across the three-set match. CIU opened the match with a .552 hitting percentage in the first set and closed with a .481 mark in the third.
Zcearia James and Savannah Kelly powered the attack with 12 kills apiece, with James hitting .571 and Kelly finishing at .688. Eevy Bellar added seven kills on a .636 mark, while Mary Norwood tallied eight kills and hit .467.
Setter Macy Brooks directed the offense with 21 assists and added two service aces, while Maria Ferreira contributed 15 assists. Libero Kelcey Mangum recorded nine digs and matched Brooks with two service aces, as CIU totaled nine aces in the sweep.
CIU now turns its attention to a pivotal conference matchup on Saturday, Nov. 1, when the Rams travel to Waleska, Ga., to face Reinhardt (Ga.) at 11 a.m. ET.
