COLUMBIA, S.C. — CIU women's volleyball controlled play Tuesday night, sweeping Spartanburg Methodist (25-17, 25-8, 25-15) in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action inside the Moore Fitness Center.
The Rams (18-6, 14-2 AAC) were efficient offensively, hitting .418 as a team and recording 46 kills to Spartanburg Methodist's 22. CIU surged in the second set with a .696 hitting percentage, putting down 16 kills without committing an attack error.
Mary Norwood and Katelynn Mundy led the attack with 11 kills apiece, as Norwood hit .556 and Mundy followed at .455. Lydia Gustafson added nine kills while hitting .636 and totaled five blocks to lead the defensive effort at the net. Eevy Beller contributed six kills and three blocks, while Zcearia James finished with seven kills and three blocks.
Setter Macy Brooks paced the offense with 20 assists and added 10 digs, while setter Maria Ferreira recorded 15 assists. Libero Kelcey Mangum led the defense with 16 digs. CIU finished with nine total team blocks and two service aces.
The Rams will return to action on Friday, Oct. 31, when they travel to face Brenau University at 6:30 p.m. ET.
