PIKEVILLE, Ky. — CIU men's soccer came up short in a 2-0 defeat on the road at Pikeville on Saturday afternoon at Bob Amos Park. Despite a resilient defensive performance, the Rams (5-8-1, 4-7-1 AAC) were unable to overcome an early deficit and a second-half insurance goal by the Bears.
Piville took the lead in the 13th minute and added another late in the 79th minute to seal the result. CIU goalkeeper Vasilios Diakomalis was exceptional in net, recording 11 saves—his second double-digit performance of the season—to keep the Rams within striking distance throughout the match.
Offensively, Landon Guervera and Josue Pirela each recorded a shot on goal for CIU, while the team totaled five shots overall. The Rams generated their best chances midway through the first half but were unable to break through a tightly organized opposing defense.
The Rams matched Pikeville in fouls (14) and continued to fight until the final whistle, showing grit in the midfield and backline.
With the loss, CIU concludes its regular season and now looks ahead to postseason play.
