COLUMBIA, S.C. — CIU women's volleyball returned to form Tuesday night with a dominant performance, sweeping Montreat College (25-9, 25-13, 25-13) in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action inside the Moore Fitness Center.
The Rams (15-6, 11-2 AAC) were in control from start to finish, hitting .403 as a team while holding Montreat (0-13, 0-13 AAC) to a -.092 attack percentage. CIU hit .417 in both the first and second sets before closing out the match with a .379 mark in the third.
Mary Norwood and Zcearia James led the Rams' offensive attack with nine kills apiece, while Lydia Gustafson added seven kills on a .545 hitting percentage. Eevy Bellar contributed five kills and a pair of blocks, while setter Macy Brooks paced the offense with 25 assists and added three service aces.
From the service line, CIU recorded 14 total aces, including four each from Lesiray Nazario Marrero and Kelcey Mangum. Mangum also collected 13 digs to lead the defense, while the Rams tallied six total team blocks in the sweep.
The Rams will remain at home for their next match on Friday, Oct. 24, when they host Bryan College at 6:30 p.m. ET inside the Moore Fitness Center.
