COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU women's soccer came up short in a key Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup Saturday afternoon, falling 2–0 to Tennessee Wesleyan at Sessions Field. The result moves the Bulldogs into second place in the AAC standings, while the Rams now sit in third with one match left in the regular season.
After a scoreless first half, Tennessee Wesleyan broke the deadlock in the 61st minute and added another goal in the 79th to seal the victory.
CIU battled throughout the match, generating nine shots, including four from Lohrane Boaventura — two of which struck the post or crossbar. Goalkeeper Hailey Resetar tallied six saves while facing 17 shots. The Rams earned five corner kicks and were narrowly edged 8–5 in that category.
With the loss, CIU moves to 11-4-1 overall and 8-3-1 in AAC play. The Rams will close out the regular season on the road at Pikeville (Ky.) on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m.
