COLUMBIA, S.C. — CIU women's volleyball extended its winning streak to eight matches on Tuesday night, sweeping Truett McConnell (25-15, 25-21, 25-15) in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play inside the Moore Fitness Center.
The Rams (13-5, 9-1 AAC) hit .191 as a team while holding Truett McConnell to just a .029 hitting percentage. CIU opened strong, hitting .306 in the first set to take early control before closing the match efficiently in three sets.
Katelynn Mundy led the Rams with nine kills on a .217 hitting percentage, while Mary Norwood added eight kills and Eevy Bellar chipped in five. Senior middle blocker Lydia Gustafson was a force at the net, tallying seven kills and two total blocks. Zcearia James contributed defensively with 10 digs while also adding six kills.
Setter Macy Brooks directed the offense with 29 assists and three service aces, while libero Kelcey Mangum fastened down the defense with 10 digs. CIU also totaled five team blocks, continuing its strong presence at the net.
The Rams will look to keep their momentum rolling as they travel to face Bluefield University (Va.) on Friday, Oct. 17, at 6:30 p.m. ET.
