COLUMBIA, S.C. — CIU women's soccer came up just short in a 1–0 defeat to Milligan on Saturday afternoon, dropping to 10–4–1 (6–2–1 in conference) in a hard-fought match at home. 

Milligan struck early — just 54 seconds into the match — and CIU was unable to recover the deficit. 

CIU was aggressive in possession, putting up 15 shots (7 on goal) to Milligan's 16 (11 on goal). Defensively, the Rams thwarted multiple scoring attempts but were unable to generate a breakthrough goal themselves. 

Goalkeeper Hailey Resetar made six saves across the 90 minutes, keeping CIU in contention deep into the match. On the attacking end, CIU saw contributions across the lineup. Lily Jackson, Mazzie Leos, Marisa Dill and others pressured the opposing defense, though their chances were repeatedly stifled. 

CIU also earned 10 corner kicks to Milligan's 4, showing territorial advantage late in the match. But despite consistent pressure in the second half — including an effort from Lily Vengelis that struck the post — the Rams could not find the equalizer.
