Columbia International University to Continue Hosting Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in 2025

January 15, 2025

GREENVILLE - The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announces a continued agreement with Columbia International University (CIU) to host the Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships through the 2024-25 academic year. The championships will be held at CIU's Track & Field Complex in Columbia, South Carolina.

"We are excited that Columbia International University has a continued desire to host and improve our Outdoor Track & Field Championships at their facility that opened in 2019," said NCCAA Executive Director Dan Wood. "CIU is a great partner and is committed to hosting NCCAA student-athletes and spectators to provide a high-quality championship experience in the spring of 2025."

Each year in May, these championships feature student-athletes from across the country competing in a multitude of events. Men's and women's events will be held over the course of a three-day period, starting with men's decathlon and women's heptathlon events on day one. Student-athletes and coaches will also have the opportunity to impact the local community through a Christian Service Project (CSP). Details of the CSP will be released closer to the event date.

Director of Athletics Stefan Vasiloff stated, "It is a special honor to be selected as the host for the NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The relationship and missional alignment with the NCCAA are such a blessing! We anticipate another great turnout at this year's championship and are excited to bring top-level collegiate track & field talent back to Columbia."

Built in 2018, the CIU Track & Field Complex boasts a state-of-the-art eight-lane multi-color Mondo Track. Mondo is the most technologically advanced to date track & field surface, and a Mondo surface was used in the 2024 Summer Olympics held in Paris, France. The facility also houses a well-maintained throws area adjacent to the track with a hammer & discus cage and a shot put area. On top of its track & field-specific components, the facility features a large video board, concession stand, restrooms, and a 600-seat grandstand with a press box.

Experience Columbia, the tourism department of South Carolina's capital city, has been a crucial partner in CIU's bid to host, as they will provide resources to help in hosting the 2025 NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Dr. Rick Christman, Columbia International University Executive Vice President, said, "Since the founding of CIU athletics over a decade ago, the NCCAA has played an important role in the growth and development of our athletic department. Because of our close relationship with the association, we are more than thrilled to host the NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Columbia International for the third straight year. We look forward to working closely again with the NCCAA Championship staff as we welcome like-minded universities and colleges to our campus to compete this May."
