COLUMBIA, S.C. - On Wednesday afternoon, CIU women's soccer hosted St. Andrews University (N.C.) for midweek Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action. Two goals in each half resulted in a 4-1 victory for the Rams, improving their overall record to 5-3 and AAC record to 5-2.
Match Summary: The Rams overpowered the Knights from the first whistle. Callie Rowe scored in the game's 7th minute off an assist from Lily Vengelis to give the Rams an early lead. The team continued to fire off shots until Vengelis found the back of the net to give CIU a 2-0 lead before intermission.
The Rams continued to maintain possession in the Knights' offensive end, but the Knights managed to get off one shot and sneak it past the keeper to get on the board. It seemed as if neither team would add another goal until Chloe Battaglia added one off a free kick (83') to extend their lead to 3-1. The Rams weren't done here as Rowe scored her second goal of the game off an assist from Lily Jackson to secure the 4-1 win.
