COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU men's soccer welcomed Reinhardt University (Ga.) for a midweek Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest on Wednesday evening. Reinhardt scored in the first and the Rams in the second, resulting in a 1-1 draw. CIU is now 4-3-2 on the season and 3-1-1 in AAC play.
Match Summary: For most of the first half, the Rams kept the ball on the Eagles' defensive side. The Rams took eight shots, with three coming from Paul Schütte, but they could not get it past the keeper. Conversely, the Eagles took one shot and scored (28') to lead 1-0 before intermission.
The Rams continued to test the keeper with 16 more shots in the second half. Ive Celic evened the score in the 79th minute off an assist from Florian Baumgaertner. Michael Abongo, Marlon Williams, and Schütte took three more shots before the final buzzer, but none could break the draw.
The Rams took 24 shots and held Reinhardt to four, with Schütte and Celic leading the team with four.
