Three second half goals leads Rams past the Knights

COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU men's soccer hosted St. Andrews University (N.C.) Wednesday evening for Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play action. Despite a silent first half, the Rams overcame a physical second half to take down the Knights 3-2. CIU is now 5-3-2 overall and 4-1-1 in AAC play.

Match Summary: The Rams had a stronger offensive outing than their guests, with eleven shots in the first. Neither team could make it past the keeper to get on the board, while CIU could not capitalize on Noe Limas' four corner kicks to break the 0-0 draw before intermission.

Juan Jimenez got the Rams on the board in the 53rd minute, and Florian Baumgaertner added one of his own two minutes later to give CIU a 2-0 lead. The Knights responded with their own goal (60') to cut the lead in half. Fernando Ferro's header made it past the keeper to extend the lead 3-1 (68'). The Knights scratched another with less than three minutes remaining to come within one.
