COLUMBIA - CIU volleyball kept their all-time record versus Brenau (Ga.) spotless on Tuesday as the Rams swept the Golden Tigers, 25-11, 25-13, 25-14. CIU now has a record of 13-1 on the season and finishes their three-match homestand with a perfect 3-0 record in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC).
CIU's serving was notable in the early week matchup as Bellamy Fennell led the Rams with four aces while Lexabel Rojas landed three serves on the Golden Tigers' side of the net. The Ram's offense was powered by Hanah Weiss (11 kills) and Kira Rymer Attaway (10 kills), while Hadassah Davis added nine of her own points off well-aimed attacks. The Ram's attack percentage was more than formidable as CIU hit .467. Libero Kelcey Mangum was all over the floor with ten digs and six assists, while setters Kamelia De Jesus and Melissa Campos Soto had 17 assists and 12 assists, respectively. Gabriela Vega led the Rams in blocks on the evening with four.
What Coach Katie Weiss is saying: "Proud of the team for not dropping a set over this three-match homestand. It was good to see some of the younger players step up and our veterans stay consistent over these past few matches. We will take the next few days to get rested before facing one of the challenging road trips this conference presents."
Up Next: The Rams make the trek westward to face Union Commonwealth (Ky.) on Friday, Sept. 20, and Johnson (Tenn.) on Saturday, Sept. 21.
