COLUMBIA - CIU played their first home match of the 2024 season on Friday as they hosted newly minted NAIA member Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) as a part of the CIU Invitational. The Pioneers (5-7) would put up a fight, but the Rams ultimately won in three (25-22, 25-19, 25-18).
Katie Camp was the only Ram with double-digit kills with 11 as the freshman played her first match in front of the CIU faithful. The Rams' attack was further bolstered by Hanah Weiss (eight kills), Lydia Gustafson (seven kills), and Hadassah Davis (nine kills). Davis also posted four blocks, as Kelcey Mangum and Kamelia De Jesus each had eight digs. De Jesus recorded 25 assists, while fellow setter Melissa Campos Soto tallied 13. Mangum was solid serving with two aces.
