COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU men's soccer took their home field to kick off Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play against the Kentucky Christian Knights. In a high-scoring affair, the Rams found themselves back in the win column after taking down the Knights 8-0 on Tuesday evening. CIU improves to 2-2 and 1-0 in conference play.
Match Summary: The Rams began taking shots just 30 seconds into the contest and did not let up for the remainder of the match. Marlon Williams was the first to find the back of the net off of an assist from Rodrigo Cercal (10'). Bryan Molina scored back-to-back goals to give the Rams a 3-0 advantage. Paul Schütte added one of his own before the half to put CIU up by four heading into intermission.
Quickly into the second half, Cercal shot it past the Knights' keeper, assisted by Molina. Molina scored another to pick up the first hat trick of his career (6-0). Four minutes later, Cercal knocked it in for another two-goal game (56'). Lorenzo Vega sealed the deal with a header shot with less than a minute remaining to give the Rams an 8-0 win over the Knights.
The Rams set a season-high of 31 shots, with Cercal and Marcos da Paz leading with four each. Molina recorded a hat trick, while Cercal picked up a brace.
