COLUMBIA — CIU baseball took care of Voorhees (S.C) early on Tuesday as a six-run second inning propelled the Rams (12-24) to a 13-2 midweek annihilation of the Tigers. The Rams are now 6-1 in Tuesday midweek contests this season.
Game Summary: An RBI-double from Jennings Greene put the Rams on the board first, and CIU led 3-0 after the first frame. The game's offensive highlight came in the second inning when Collin Greer contributed to the six-run inning with a three-RBI homer that put the Rams up 9-0 after two. The Tigers scratched two across in the fifth, but CIU responded in the bottom of the sixth, as an RBI single from Colton Lopez plated Shane Hammonds. Lopez followed his at-bat by scoring on a Tigers' error, allowing pitcher Collin Otte to force the 13-2 run rule as the Indian Land native picked up three quick outs in the top of the seventh.
