GAINESVILLE, Ga. - CIU softball was back on the road on Saturday afternoon to take on Brenau University as the Rams looked to get back in the win column in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. CIU took the lead in the top of the seventh in both games of today's doubleheaders but could not hold off the Golden Tigers to come out on the end of the one-run losses.
Game One: BU 7 CIU 6: CIU nabbed the advantage in the first with a two-RBI single from Sophia Noriega and an RBI double from Dallas Mayers, but Brenau scratched one to bring the score to 3-1. The Rams went scoreless until the seventh, but the Golden Tigers tacked on five more to lead 6-3 heading into the final inning. At the top of the seventh, Caydon Thomspon and Noreiga drove in three runs to force the bottom of the inning. The Golden Tigers took advantage of an error to score on the walk-off single.

Game Two: BU 6 CIU 5: Noriega got the Rams on the board in the first frame, and Sydnee Dial held Brenau scoreless until the third inning. They took a 4-1 lead from six hits in the third, but CIU didn't scratch another until the fifth. Thompson singled to score Sarah Jordan and cut the lead to 4-2. Mayers tied the game in the top of the seventh with a two-run single to center field, and Noriega crossed home plate on a passed ball to give CIU the 6-5 lead. The Rams got the lead off Golden Tiger out on a pop up, but three free bases and a single allowed them to tie the game. Then, a sac fly allowed Brenau to walk-off game two to sweep the series.
